We are rolling our 401k and have a goodly amount of money. Our financial planner handed us a fund he wanted to put our money in and I was appalled to see such horrible companies in the line up a Monsanto and Exxon/Mobile. Eek! I asked him to please research and see if there was a fund perhaps even based on a "report card" system of Fortune 500 companies that is based on social responsibility and definitely on their movement towards a sustainable business model. He could not think of one, and instead of him being the only one researching this I figured I too would throw out some feelers. Since I follow GR on twitter I thought this may be a good spot to throw out my first inquiry.
Obviously we don't want to lose money, but would like to place our investments with the top companies that are trying to move towards doing the right things, decreasing their footprint, being innovative, and making socially responsible choices with their employees domestically and especially abroad. So where do we start? I can't believe that we are the only ones who would like to take this approach.
